This guide will show you the quickest way to level your Classic Alchemy skill from 1 to 300 in World of Warcraft classic or Season of Discovery as cost-effectively as possible.
What’s the best combination? The Alchemy profession in World of Warcraft can be perfectly combined with Herbalism. You can easily gather all the needed herbs yourself and don’t need to buy them at the auction house.
Materials Required for Alchemy Leveling 1-300
This guide uses several yellow recipes, meaning you won’t always gain skill points. I’ve included an extra 10-20 herbs for most recipes, but you might need more if you’re unlucky.

Learn Classic Alchemy from any of the NPCs below. Ask a guard in any city for directions to the Alchemy trainer, and a red flag will mark the location on your map.

To train Alchemy past 75, you must learn Journeyman Alchemy (requires character level 10). Not all Alchemy trainers can teach this skill, so you must find an Expert Alchemist.

Learn Expert Alchemy
To train Alchemy past 150, you must learn Expert Alchemy (requires character level 20). Not all Alchemy trainers can teach this skill, so you must find an Artisan Alchemist.
Horde players can learn Expert Alchemy from Doctor Herbert Halsey in Undercity. Alliance players can learn it from Ainethil in Darnassus.
Recipes to Buy
Buy the Recipe: Superior Mana Potion before you leave Darnassus/Undercity! You will need this recipe later at 265, so save time by purchasing it now while near the NPCs who sell it.

Leveling Expert Alchemy
140 – 155
20 x Lesser Mana Potion – 20 Mageroyal, 20 Stranglekelp, 20 Empty Vial
This recipe will be yellow for the last 10 points, so you might need to make a few extra.
Make Fire Oil if you don’t have Stranglekelp or if Firefin Snapper is cheap. You could also make more Healing Potion.
155 – 185
35 x Greater Healing Potion – 35 Liferoot, 35 Kingsblood, 35 Leaded Vial
If you made Fire Oil, use it to make Elixir of Firepower.
185 – 210
30 x Elixir of Agility – 30 Stranglekelp, 30 Goldthorn, 30 Leaded Vial
If you don’t have enough Goldthorn, make Mana Potion or Lesser Invisibility Potion up to around 195.
If you don’t have any Goldthorn, make Nature Protection Potion between 190-215.
Recipe: Nature Protection Potion is sold by those vendors: Alchemist Pestlezugg, Bronk, Glyx Brewright, and Logannas. It’s a limited supply item, so it can take a while to respawn if someone else buys it before you.
Learn Artisan Alchemy
To train Alchemy past 225, you must learn Artisan Alchemy (requires character level 35). Not all Alchemy trainers can teach this skill, so you must find a Master Alchemist.
Horde players can learn Artisan Alchemy from Rogvar in Swamp of Sorrows at Stonard.
Alliance players can learn it from Kylanna Windwhisper in Feralas at Feathermoon Stronghold.

- 210 – 215: 5 x Elixir of Greater Defense – 5 Steelbloom, 5 Goldthorn, 5 Leaded Vial
- 215 – 230: 15 x Superior Healing Potion – 15 Sungrass, 15 Khadgar’s Whisker, 15 Crystal Vial
- 230 – 265: 45 x Elixir of Detect Undead – 45 Arthas’ Tears, 45 Crystal Vial
265 – 285
